Educational kit
 |
The "Manifesta!" educational kit includes the catalogue
(which contains the best cartoons and the complete text of the
Charter of Rights of the EU), 16 posters, and 16 postcards with
the most effective and communicative illustrations of the charter’s
six points.
Posters and postcards make it easy, simple, and free to set
up exhibitions within classrooms; the catalogue is a useful
instrument to study the Charter in more depth, using the starting
points offered by the artists.
The catalogue presents the best cartoons made
for the project “Manifesta!”. |
Manifesta! Cartoons and
illustrations on the fundamental rights of European Union, curated
by Lai-momo 2007, pp. 80, colour, sewn binding |
The catalogue presents the best
cartoons made for the project “Manifesta!”. The
images illustrate the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European
Union by going through its six constitutive headings; a brief
introductory text suggests a reflection on the importance of
the process of European integration in order to maintain peace
and prosperity in our continent. The publication ends with the
complete text of the Charter of Rights in Italian, French and
Czech, which are the languages of the projects’ partners.
The illustrations have been made both by professional artists
from Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Nigeria, Senegal, the
Democratic Republic of the Congo and Benin; as well as by participants
to the “Manifesta!” international competition, open
to artists of all nationalities.
The 70 published drawings were chosen amongst more than a hundred;
they are divided according to the 6 fundamental rights and accompanied
by an indication of which heading of the Charter they refer
to, which makes it easy to look further into its content.

The catalogue is published within the project
“Manifesta! Cartoons and illustrations on the fundamental
rights of the European Union”, which is part-funded by
the European Commission (General Supervision of Justice, Liberty
and Security within the programme Actions related to Fundamental
Rights), in collaboration with the Multicultural centre Prague,
l’Afrique Dessinée (Paris).
The publication is co-financed by the Fondazione Carisbo.
